I cannot believe another year is about to come to a close. I don’t know about you, but I feel like each year passes by even faster than the previous. Maybe it is because our little boy is so busy and keeps us even busier. Or maybe it is because I am just getting older and I wish I could just freeze time! Whatever it may be, I want to cherish and soak up each and every moment that God gives us.
This was our third year in a row that we hired Jessica Kay to take photos for our Christmas card. Before Braedon was born, I never even thought of doing a photo Christmas card. Now that I’m a mom, I really look forward to taking these special photos because I know we will cherish them for years to come.
This year we met Jessica Kay at a park in the Napa Valley. We love her because she just knows how to put us at ease and makes us feel so comfortable. She shot these photos in 30 minutes and I am SO happy with what she captured.

I’m a lover of neutrals and always think that photos are much easier on the eyes in a neutral color palette. Choosing clothes for a family shoot can be overwhelming, but I have found that sticking to neutrals is also helpful in narrowing down outfit choices. I like to start by selecting mine first. Once I know what I’m going to wear, I can then tie in the colors for everyone else. I chose my dress for it’s rich golden brown color and nice drapey fabric. Unfortunately, my dress by Young Broke and Fabulous is sold out, but I did find three similar ones here, here and here. I paired my dress with these beautiful black boots and then kept my jewelry simple with this gold coin pendent and black drop earrings.
This adorable fair isle sweater for boys had the perfect touches of toffee mixed in to pick up the color of my dress. He wore his black Hunter rain boots and thick ivory corduroy pants from Zara Kids to add some texture. My husbands dark wash jeans and shawl collar sweater were super affordable and worked perfectly to keep his look simple.

Merry Christmas and Happy (almost) New Year!
