Located just east of the super luxe Meadowood Resort, sits historic Seavey Vineyards. This family-run estate is known for their finely-crafted Cabernet Sauvignon. Seavey also produces small lots of Merlot and Chardonnay, but Cabernet is their specialty. Small-batches of these wines are created each year (approximately 3,000 cases), using classical methods.
Upon arrival, Sarah greeted us out front and poured us a welcome taste of their Chardonnay. She then led us to the most beautiful stone building that looked like it had landed right out of a fairytale. Sarah later explained that this unique structure used to be a working milk barn in the 1800’s and that the Seaveys restored it in 1990.
Sarah lined up our glasses (6 per person) and slowly poured a bit of wine into each one. As we went down the line she explained how each bottle was produced and gave us some helpful tips on how to savor every sip. I have to be honest, I’m not a huge fan of Cabernet (I’m usually a Pinot Noir girl), but Seavey’s are EXCEPTIONAL. One of the reasons I wanted to visit Seavey is because of the reputation they have for Cabernet, and wow, the wine really exceeded my expectations. Personally, the Caravina Cabernet was definitely a standout.

Seavey is open by appointment only. Each wine tasting is $75 and includes a tour of their beautiful estate gardens and historic stone milk barn. Each tasting fee is waived with a purchase of three bottles of wine.
